Snacking like a health nut just got a lot easier, thanks to one smart cookie.

These flourless, low sugar, gluten-free gourmet snacks look and taste like cookies— but nutritionally, they’re so much more!

BELMONT, CA – June 2007 – Natasha’s Health Nut Cookies are real food. Packed with nuts and flavor, these are cookies with a purpose. “In a fast-paced world, where finding convenient and healthful foods is often a challenge, these cookies represent a true milestone in taste, convenience, and nutritional value,” raves Dan Nadeau, MD, diabetologist and author of The Color Code: A Revolutionary Eating Plan for Optimum Health. Available in three perfectly nutty flavors, Cranberry Orange, Raisin Amaretto, and Vanilla Chocolate Chip, Natasha’s Health Nut Cookies are made from almond meal instead of traditional flour. “Almonds are well known for being an effective hunger fighter. They contain fiber, antioxidants, and protein and are a good source of vitamin E, making these cookies a great mid-afternoon energy booster or a satisfying after dinner treat,” says Willow Jarosh, registered dietitian and co-owner of C&J Nutrition in New York City. Natasha Becker created these cookies to be enjoyed by just about everyone, from people with celiac disease or diabetes, to those simply seeking a delicious and healthful snack. All her cookies are 120 to 140 calories each, completely gluten-free, low in sugar, low in carbs, and Weight Watchers friendly. The cookies, which sell for $6.95 per half dozen (+S&H ), are available for nationwide delivery online (natashascookies.com).

Five needs, one cookie
Four years ago, Natasha Becker, founder of Natasha’s Sweet Temptations in Belmont, CA, stood at her refrigerator wondering why she could not find one after-dinner snack that would satisfy her appetite and cravings for sweets without sabotaging her diet with a ton of calories, sugar, or artificial ingredients. Around the same time, Natasha kept hearing from her customers that they could no longer enjoy her famous Russian Sherry Tea Cakes as often as they once had. Some had recently been diagnosed with diabetes or celiac disease and many were just trying to cut back on flour and sugar. “ With obesity and other chronic diseases on the rise, it’s no wonder consumers are demanding more healthful snack alternatives,” says Becker, who believes that a successful entrepreneur needs to “find a need and fill it.” And that is just what she did by creating her Health Nut Cookies. These cookies fill five needs, to be exact: They are safe for people with celiac disease (gluten-free) or diabetes (low sugar, low carb), great for people watching their carbohydrate intake or following a Weight Watchers plan, and perfect for anyone who wants a smart snack that tastes great too!

Cookies (and business) with a little TLC
To keep the quality of the finished product perfect and the taste unbeatable, Natasha adds her personal, homemade touch to every batch of Health Nut Cookies. “I’m extremely particular about making sure the ingredients are the highest quality and the cookies are baked at exactly the right temperature for the right amount of time, every time,” says Becker. But her personal touch doesn’t stop there. Even though her cookies are a big hit, she’ll never stop taking customer’s phone calls and answering questions personally!

About Natasha’s Sweet Temptations
Natasha Becker started Sweet Temptations in 1993 selling Russian Sherry Tea Cakes made from her grandmother’s recipe. The newest member of the Sweet Temptations family, Natasha’s Health Nut Cookies, were created in 2003. This one-woman show still does all of the baking for Sweet Temptations (with a little help from family!). Natasha’s long-term vision is to find someone to take over the manufacturing, packaging, and distribution of the cookies so that she can focus on the promotion of these incredible cookies.
